Meadowbrook Country Club Selected to Host the 2026 Milwaukee District Golf Association Match Play Championship
November 25, 2025
Racine, Wis. The Milwaukee District Golf Association (MDGA) is proud to announce that Meadowbrook Country Club, has been selected as the host site for the 2026 MDGA Match Play Championship, scheduled for Friday, June 5th through Sunday, June 7th, 2026.
The 2026 championship marks a return to an early June date, a change from the August schedule used in recent years. The MDGA selected this weekend to avoid conflicts with WSGA championships and other club events. The championship has been held successfully in June many times, including most recently at Chenequa Country Club in 2023.
“We are very excited to bring the Match Play back to Meadowbrook,” said Carl Anderson, Tournament Director of the MDGA. “Jason and his team have been fantastic to work with in past years, and Meadowbrook is simply a great match play golf course. The players are going to really enjoy it.”
Meadowbrook and the MDGA Match Play Championship share a long and meaningful history. The club has hosted the championship three times.
• 2021: Matthew Raab of Chenequa CC defeated Jack Anderson of North Hills CC
• 1999: Mark Bemowski of Johnson Park GC defeated Tom Halla of Brown Deer GC
• 1942: Wilford Wehrle of Kenosha CC defeated Beauford Melik of Racine CC
When approached about hosting the championship in 2026, Jason Samuelian, Meadowbrook’s General Manager and Director of Operations, quickly confirmed the club’s interest. Samuelian is closely tied to the event’s history, having won the MDGA Match Play Championship in 1994 while representing Meadowbrook Country Club, the same club he now leads.
The MDGA Match Play Championship consists of an 18-hole stroke play qualifier on Friday, followed by match play on Saturday and Sunday to determine the champion.
2025 Championship Recap
The 2025 championship, held at Wisconsin Country Club, was won by Thomas Haverty of Wisconsin Country Club, who defeated Garrett Schultz of Brown Deer Golf Club, 2 and 1. Schultz has now reached the finals three consecutive years, winning the title in 2023 and finishing as runner-up in 2024 and 2025, one of the most impressive recent runs in MDGA Match Play history.
